Other Warhammer

Warhammer Age of Sigmar

In 2018 I also took a dive into Warhammer Age of Sigmar (AoS) and in particular found Underworlds Shade Spire to be quite good.

Warhammer 40k Thousand Sons Rubric Marine Squad

When I saw the new (2016) Thousand Sons Space marine releases and the guide on the Warhammer TV youtube page I decided I had to have a go.

So I did. And following the basic steps in the video this is how I got on.

1) Gratz I put them together. Aside from dropping and losing one of the sorcerers hip guards and have to cut a replacement off one of the spare cloths.

2) So then base coat in Retributor armour, I did not feel like paying £15 for the spray so painted it from the pot over a black undercoat

3) Next a Reikland Fleshshade wash, it really brings out the detail and looks really good.

4) Then add the Thousand Sons Blue

5) A wash of Nuln Oil

6) Then I did quite a few things and some are a bit messy at that. The yellow bands on the head (I could not mange the ones on the legs) and base for the cloth items

I then I focused on cleaning up these standard bolter gunned 6.

The end result was quite good by my usual standards and miles above the last time I painted Thousand Sons. Next maybe I will add some terminators.

However the terminators have not happened yet and I have literally dusted off an incomplete helldrake and started painting it to match. I also re-purposed some 30k marines into pre Heresy Thousand Sons.

40k Death Guard

Next up we have a trial I did for a 40K Death Guard force. I have the miniatures from the Dark Imperium boxset and made put two together but not work out a colour scheme for myself.

I think it worked out well by my standards, I when back and picked up another few bits and now have the rest of the miniatures assembled ready to be painted (so probably in about 2 years time)

More Underworlds Shadespire Warbands Complete

From Season 1 with have Ironjawz Ironskull’s Boyz. I added some “blood for the blood god” to the weapons and bits of the armour. I had some problems with the eyes and I’m not 100% happy with them

And from Season 2 with have Stormsire’s Cursebreakers. Nice models the hands are a bit confusing though if its is actually armoured or more like black gloves which it is painted as in some examples. I just went with the standard armour colour.

Prince Duvalle and Krulghast Cruciator

In the world of Warhammer we have painted up some new releases Prince Duvalle from the Crimson Court

I would really like to do better faces as they are hard for me been so small and I am a bit ham-fisted.

I would recommend the “The Painting Coach” painting guide on YouTube for the prince as the official Games Workshop one is not that great and basically devolves into an unnecessary buy these newer random colours we made to do scheme we have previously used other colours advert. So here is my prefer guide

Indomitus Necrons

I managed to get myself a 9th Edition Indomitus boxset at the end of July and the first of the set are now painted.

Update: They are nice models but probably should not have been made the new standard necron warrior set at £29 for 10. But you know that is Games Workshop for you (Space Marines: Honoured of the Chapter from the same set for £89… rip off merchants)

Assault Intercessors

Trying to clear some models from my desk so I can justify the new Gravelord models I have bought

Assault Intercessors from Indominus box set
